Lock their contents with a strong encryption method. PKZip Professional 5.0, FileAssurity, and CuteZip 2.1- are the best for strong encryption. 

You can also encrypt using the built in zip in xp or winzip but its not as strong and it isnt all that hard to crack open winzip files a lamer could do it if they were determined.

Pick your password wisely. The most popular way to crack an account is to run word dictionaries through it. Some of the dictionaries come with words combined with numbers like (oilers99 -69beers). Your best bet to making the word dictionaries completely useless is a long senseless letter number combination. For example my old password for aprilcanadian was zr16ehjewellzz169. No one got my account and trust me I know some knobs who want to.

• DON'T TYPE IN ALL CAPS. This is seen as shouting.

• Use emoticons (smileys) when trying to convey a tone of voice :-)

• Limit line length to 65-70 characters across. Otherwise some e-mail programs will have problems

• Consider carefully what you send; it  can be easily forwarded to others.

• Don't waste bandwidth. 

• Don't attach large files (over 50K) without warning them first.

• Don't attach files for posting to discussion groups.

• Turn off e-mail formatting  when posting to a discussion group.

• Don't send entire web pages  just the URLs .

• When sending a web site address, always type it in the form of "http://

• Don't  promote your business by spamming also don't flood people with joke mail you don't even find funny YOU DON'T HAVE TO FORWARD EVERYTHING

• Write descriptive subject lines.  Think creatively.

• Don't quote back an entire message when only responding to one or two points. 

• Do not forward personal e-mail  without getting the author's permission first. Some of you folks have no class or scruples.

• Read over your e-mail before you send it.
