Speed up I/O operations

Open NOTEPAD and Open C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM.INI

Find the section with [386enh] and add these lines underneath it. X= the value you wish this is multiplied by 4. usual settings are 4,8,16,32. The higher the values, the more speed you will have.

go to Control panel/system/performance

click on File System and change the Role of your machine to 'Network Server'

If you find your Hard Drive suddenly starts acting very busy a lot try this out

Control Panel/Perofmance/Virtual Memory. Change The  Minimum to 2.5 times your RAM and do the same for the Maximum

Keep clutter from slowing you down. Go to 'C:\Windows\Temp' it will contain temporary files your computer made while dong things like installing programs you don't need them.

In your 'C:\Windows\Help' there are *.AVI files that you probably won't need so delete them. That's 7MB plus of space you free up.

Try looking for the following types of file *.txt *.bak *.--- *.doc *.gid *.pif, only delete these if you know what they are and you don't need them
